Ask Susanna
Q: Why does some wax remain on the skin when waxing my client?
A: Sometimes your client’s skin is very dry and dehydrated, especially during the cold winter months. The skin just needs to be rehydrated. Try using Satin Hydrate moisturizing lotion prior to the waxing. Apply a small amount on the area to be waxed, allow time to dry, and then begin to wax. Another reason could be technique – always remember to stand towards the hair growth. For example, if you’re waxing a leg, stand by the foot area. This will give you better leverage to pull the strip off quickly, without breaking hair.
Q: At what age can you start waxing?
A: Since waxing with Satin Smooth is a safe and gentle service, we recommend waxing as young as 10 years old. Techs should always consult with a parent or guardian before service. Review the service with your child or let them see one performed before making an appointment. This way they’ll know what to expect.
Q: With the economy being what it is, I’ve seen a drop in my waxing service revenues. What can I do to save my clientele?
A: This is a question that everyone should be asking. Are you offering a quality service? This means sharpen your waxing skills. Make sure you’re using the right product and technique. Remember waxing is an add-on service. If it’s not done right, they may forgo the treatment next time. Offer incentives to entice clients to purchase your services. Offering packages like “buy 3 get the 4th free” or “get your legs waxed and receive a basic bikini waxing free” will increase your tips and fill your schedule, perhaps even secure a customer for life.
