What's Hot? You!
Trends come and go so quickly, but that doesn’t keep us from wanting to stay current with the latest in everything, from technology and hobbies to style and fashion. Who are the hottest celebrities? What do they buy and wear? Where do they go for fun? We like to know. Following what goes on “out there” keeps us relevant wherever we live. It’s not that we feel we have to look exactly like celebrities and copy everything they do, but more that we use the latest trends as a guide, regularly adding new ingredients define our own brand of “classic me.” It’s that ongoing evolution—not reinventing ourselves but always stepping up our game a little higher, level by level—that provides us with a continual learning experience and makes us interesting to others.
One reason we look to celebrities to take the lead is that often they have access to “the next big thing” before the rest of us. A famous face earns front-row seats at Fashion Week, gift bags of the newest styling and make-up products, and jewelry to borrow for red carpet events. Professionals surround them—their hairstylists travel with them and fashion designers advise them.
When you walk into your salon carrying a tear sheet showing a celebrity look that caught your eye,
you're not asking your hairdresser to turn you into that person. Your stylist knows who you are—your lifestyle and beauty maintenance routine as well as your hair texture and facial bone structure. Your hairdresser can take the current celebrity look you like and put the “you” twist on it.
To give you insight into what’s heating up as the weather cools down, turn to page 30. Our STYLE SOURCE team reviews and preview the hottest trends and the people who set them. You’ll see that “hot” comes in a range; it’s not just one look or one purchase that defines the moment. We live in an exciting time when you can be hot just by making a change, taking a risk and getting even more in touch with your unique taste. Just ask your beauty professional for ideas. He or she knows just how to push your “hot” button.
