Risk Management
Nancy O'Dell
Exclusive Style Source columnist Nancy O'Dell encourages women to go for some holiday glam even if that means not playing it safe.
Sarah Jessica Parker
From covering the red carpet, I’ve noticed that celebrities who get criticized for their look are likely to play it a lot safer next time. That’s kind of a shame. As a newscaster, I can’t take too many risks with fashion, but I applaud people who do!
January Jones
Someone like Sara Jessica Parker, who has a reputation for being stylish and classy, will wear some “out there” looks, but fashion commentators tend to give her those options – maybe because of her Sex and the City fashionista role – while a newer red carpet name will get criticized when she takes a chance. I didn’t feel that January Jones deserved so much criticism for the dress she wore to this year’s Emmys. I like the dress and the fact that she took a risk. In person, the dress was very pretty.
Nancy's Pick
- My must-have accessory of the season: I love my basic silver cuff!
- My number-one holiday hair product: Rusk Wired. It gives structure for a dressed look.
- My holiday 2010 fashion staple: A great jacket that you can wear over a strapless dress
On The Move
Nancy O'Dell, Rachel Griffths and Gilles Marini
Like everyone else, I’ve been busy! Late last summer, ABC asked me to co-host a preview of the new fall shows. That was a lot of fun! I had a chance to meet new stars and reconnect with great people like Rachel Griffiths and Gilles Marini of Brothers and Sisters, pictured with me here.
More recently, in conjunction with Creative Memories I launched a line of scrapbooking products, the Hummingbird Series by Nancy O’Dell. It’s designed to make album creation easy for busy parents! I admit that I’m a serial scrapbooker. I document every proud, silly, happy, sad, exciting and inspirational moment – just as my mother did before me. In fact, I’m a fifth generation scrapbooker. Child psychologist will tell you there is a great power in the family photo album to develop confident, secure, happy kids.
I have also been shooting Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star, which will air in primetime in January when the new OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network debuts. You’ll see Carson Kressley and me co-hosting this fun new competition series, executive produced by Mark Burnett. And my newest book, Full of Love, just came out, so I’m making sure I have a good supply of my Rusk products for the book tour! I think “full of love” sums up the way we try to live our days, doesn’t it?
