We're All Friends Here
As the saying goes, we can choose our friends but not our relatives. Personally, I would not trade my family for anything! But my point here is more about the first part— that
pals stick together by choice, making friendship such a valuable commodity. That’s why we’re devoting this issue of STYLE SOURCE to the special nature of friendship and what we each contribute to keeping those
relationships vital and appreciated.
In our world at the salon, we honor friendship every day in several ways. First, a stylist often becomes one of her clients’ cherished friends. Further, good stylists tend to style entire groups of friends because one refers the rest to the salon.
They come in for individual appointments and also together to celebrate a birthday, get ready for prom or change up their collective look. In addition, the salon’s staff members typically grow very close to one another. Make sure you catch our look inside
salon camaraderie on page 34, part of our feature on friendship that begins on page 30. Friendships forged through creativity are also evident on page 54, where we report on the great time the Rusk team had partying while still attending to business!
Losing friends is the bitterness that accompanies the sweet. On page 56, we pay homage to a family friend who achieved the highest ranks of wealth and professional success, yet is remembered even more
for his kindness and charity. I would also like to recognize our loss of a good friend, Leslie Schloss. Our prayers to her husband David and family.
In your circle of friends, you’re probably honest with each other but perhaps shave the edge off that candor to avoid any hurt feelings. Maybe you would love to see your girlfriend hide her gray strands to look as young as you consider her. You might have a friend whose
professional demeanor would be improved with a brow and lip wax, or one who could benefit from softening her style with a new curling iron. Friends don’t let friends be embarrassed! The next time you go
to the salon, bring that friend who needs an update. You won’t even have to do the talking, because the salon professional will make her look like gold. And we all know that friendship is golden.
