There's No Business Like Beauty Business!
Is it a pleasure and a privilege to create and distribute a publication dedicated to beauty? I appreciate every chance we get to showcase the magnificent artistry of beauty professionals. The images you see in STYLE SOURCE
of models and celebrities with perfect hair, flawless skin and flattering makeup represent the dedicated work of hair professionals. What amazes me is that no matter how successful they become, beauty professionals
enthusiastically continue to hone their skills, try out new products and techniques, and create fresh looks for clients. This is Passion, and no other industry can top the level of passion that beauty professionals contribute
to every project and person they touch.
The benefits to society are tangible. Looking good boosts people’s confidence and makes them feel great, and it’s simply more pleasant to live in a well-groomed culture! The benefits to the professionals themselves
fly a bit more under the radar. We’re devoting this issue of STYLE SOURCE to highlighting those advantages and providing you with a comprehensive look at the varied, rewarding careers available to
beauty pros. You can be on staff at a large salon organization or a tiny boutique salon. You can teach. You can work behind the scenes on movie sets, at fashion shows or in photo shoots for print editorial and
advertising. Beginning on page 30, we not only take you on a guided tour of opportunities but we also give you an idea of how to launch your own lifetime of professional inspiration. If you have a creative
calling, enrolling in beauty school puts you on the path to achieving your dream—both financially and in terms of personal satisfaction.
The Rusk Creative Team blends the pinnacle of creative accomplishment with the desire to grow the next generation of hair stylists.
Beginning on page 42 you’ll learn how the team creates a style collection, on page 52 you’ll see the educators carrying on under
unexpected conditions and on page 68 the trainers themselves address the power of enlightening other designers about the latest techniques
and formulas to help keep their clients beautiful each and every day.
I would like to send special compliments and praise to 2011 Boys Towns of Italy honoree Nick Mercede and the entire Mercede family (read more on page 56).
As a final note, I would like to express our heartfelt sadness for
the people of Japan. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
