Smooth Road Ahead

Satin Smooth’s Susanna DiSotto answers readers’ questions.

Q By this point in winter, I always experience a dull look to my complexion. I want to try a microdermabrasion treatment, but I’m afraid it will irritate my sensitive skin. Do you have any suggestions?
A

To brighten your dull skin and get you through the rest of the winter, try Satin Smooth’s new DermaRadiance, a gentle microdermabrasion system that uses a pure flower to exfoliate the skin. This is a healthy approach for all skin types, but it’s especially exciting for people with sensitive skin and others who have not bdermaeen good candidates for traditional microdermabrasion services. DermaRadiance’s organic grains treat the skin gently, while the non-irritating formulas are effective at exfoliating the dead skin cells from the surface of the face. The aromatherapy effect is an amazing experience for the senses, and your skin is left glowing and soft. I suggest that you visit your nearest spa today and ask for DermaRadiance by name. Your skin will love you for it.

Q I usually shave my legs, but I’ve started to notice how dry my legs become from the shaving. Would waxing
help to exfoliate and improve the condition of the skin on my legs?

Yes, waxing is a great solution! Not only will your legs feel softer and more moisturized, but your hair regrowth will be slower because the “whole” hair will be removed, not just the surface hair that is removed when you shave. You may want to try Satin Smooth’s Aloe Vera wax for an especially moisturizing treatment.

Q I really love the clean, precise results that I get when having my eyebrows waxed, but many times little bumps form after my waxing service. I’ve never tried Satin Smooth wax. Do you think these bumps could be appearing because of the brand of wax I’m using?
A Of course I believe Satin Smooth is the best choice for all of your waxing needs! But other factors, too, can contribute to the bumps you have been experiencing. Many times we touch the skin after our waxing service to feel the soft, smooth results. This is a bad idea, because we have bacteria on our fingertips and, when meeting a freshly waxed area with open pores, the bacteria can cause bumps. Unsanitary waxing conditions, such as double dipping, also can cause bumps. Improper waxing technique can lift the skin, causing bumps as well. My recommendation to you is to seek out a waxing technician who uses Satin Smooth waxes and the Satin Smooth
technique. Then, remember to keep your hands away from your face immediately after your service, and most likely you will enjoy the beautiful results of waxing without the bumps!
Q My boyfriend has a real problem with ingrown hair in his beard area. I’ve never heard of it before, but can men get their beard waxed? If not, do you have any suggestions to help with this problem?
A This is not an isolated problem; many men suffer from ingrown hairs. It’s painful and unsightly. Unfortunately, waxing is not a good idea in the beard area. The bulb of the hair tends to be much thicker in the beard, so no
matter how great the technician or the wax, this would be very painful! Ingrown hairs often result when the hair is trapped under the surface of the skin. The hair, continuing to grow, pushes under the surface; when combined
ingrown hairwith any little bit of bacteria in the skin, that can bring on an ugly, painful pustule. Exfoliation is a great way to avoid this whole problem. Try using Satin Smooth’s Ingrown Hair Treatment Pads or Mousse, part of our Res-Q line. These products contain salicylic acid to help with exfoliation, plus other soothing products such as chamomile extract, allantoin and vitamin E. These ingredients soothe and moisturize while treating the ingrown hair—three treats in one!
